What is a poker bonus?
A poker bonus is an incentive given by poker rooms to attract new players. Typically it is a percent of your deposit and you receive the bonus when you have met the requirements.
What is a reload bonus?
A reload bonus is an offer made by poker rooms to bring back players or reward loyal players. It is a follow up bonus to a first deposit bonus.
What is a monthly bonus?
Some poker rooms offer bonuses every month to their players. In some cases you do not even have to deposit to get this offer.
What are the requirements for clearing a poker bonus?
Poker bonuses are either tied to raked hands or to a points system a poker room uses.
Do I have to contribute to the pot to have it count towards the bonus?
It depends on the poker room. Some poker room bonuses require you to contribute to the pot while other only require that you get dealt cards. We make sure to include this in every review.
What does contribute to the pot mean?
Some poker rooms require that you have some money in the pot to have it count towards your bonus clearing requirements. In most cases simply posting a blind or an ante in stud games will satisfy this requirement. The poker room review will say otherwise if it is an exception.
What does a dealt bonus mean?
Unlike a contributed bonus a dealt bonus means that all you have to do is be dealt in the hand and it will count towards your clearing your bonus. You do not have to put any money in the pot.
If a friend transfers me money instead of me depositing can I still claim the bonus?
In almost all cases the answer is no. The online poker room review will say otherwise if the room is an exception.
What if I cash out before I finish clearing the bonus, will I lose it?
Most poker rooms will allow you to cash out some or all of your funds before clearing a bonus. If you cash out all of your chips you can still come back later and finish clearing the bonus provided the bonus has not expired. Bodog is one exception. You cannot cashout until you have cleared the bonus.
